Hi All, I am selling my 1974 XB Falcon factory 3 seater windowless Panel Van. This is not a matching numbers car.
I bought this Van about 5 years ago off a retired bloke who had striped it back to bare metal from its original white colour and then resprayed it the colour it is now. He told me he was not going to finish building the rest of the car due to his back problems.
It was originally a base model Falcon (not even a Falcon 500) with brown interior, bench seat, 6cyl, column auto and drum rear brakes.
I bought it and worked on finishing the car for the first 2 years of my ownership. Since then I have been enjoying it as it stands now, a well sorted, tight, reliable, trouble free, head turning weekender for about 3 years now. I can jump in it and turn the key and go with no issues. It pulls well, particularly in the higher rev range, it stops a treat, it shifts nicely, its tight in and out of corners, and feels good on the road. Everything in the cabin works as it should except the cigarette lighter and the spot lights are not hooked up.
The following mechanical work has been carried out /installed while I have owned it:-
Reconditioned 1972 351 2v Cleveland installed, with mild cam upgrade, square bore factory manifold and New 650 Vac Holly
351 fuel line
New twin exhaust system and Extractors
New radiator with thermo fans
Reconditioned power steering box and pump and New hoses to suit
Reconditioned brakes, suspension and steering components
Reconditioned Close ratio Borg Warner single rail 4 speed manual gear box
New master and slave cylinders
Reconditioned 28 spline, LSD, Disc brake Borg Warner diff – 3.23:1
For the interior I did the following:-
Change over to GT / GS gauges AND proper wiring harness to suit
Change over to black dash, kick panels, glove box, pinch weld, etc
New underlay and carpet
Change over to New upholstered Coupe / Hardtop bucket seat (they lean forward)
New seat belts x 3
Child restraint attaching bar (take the baby / kids)
Change over to blank steering column
New rubber kit
Change over to Manual pedal box
For the outside I did the following:-
Change over to Reconditioned GT / GS grill
Reconditioned ROH 14 x 6” wheels with stainless steel trim and near new tyres (1 year old now)
New head lights
Reconditioned tail lights
New barn door rubbers
New door handles
This car is solid and rust free. The drip rails and the seams where the top joins the ute sides are amazing. I have pictures of this van in bare metal. The paint is NOT show quality. It has some chips, scratches, tiny dents, and is NOT perfect. I think it presents well and I get a lot of complements about the car all the time, but I want to be clear that it is not a show car finish, it is driver car finish.
I have about 10 boxes of XB and XB panel van parts which will go with the car if sold for the asking price. These are usable or sale-able parts, or good spares for a 43 year old car. Some are rare and a couple of items are better than what is on the van right now.
Registered now in Qld, selling unregistered.
